Washington Township Recreation Welcomes Spring with the Return of “Stand Strong” and “Sit Strong” Balance Classes
As spring brings fresh energy and longer days, Washington Township Recreation is excited to once again offer its well‑loved Stand Strong and Sit Strong Strength & Balance Classes. After enthusiastic community participation and glowing feedback, these programs are returning to help residents step into the season feeling steady, strong, and connected. Each program is offered as an 8‑week session.
Stand Strong guides participants through gentle body weight movements and light dumbbell exercises to build core and limb strength. Designed with older adults and those easing back into fitness in mind, the class emphasizes posture, mobility, and balance—helping everyone move with confidence as the weather warms. This 8‑week session meets Mondays from April 13 to June 8, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM. This class does not allow canes, walkers, or sitting. A doctor’s note may be required.
Sit Strong delivers a lively, low‑impact workout from the comfort of a chair, making it ideal for anyone looking to improve flexibility and strength without added strain. Back by popular demand, this 8‑week class meets Wednesdays from April 15 to June 3, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM.
All classes take place at the Washington Township Community Center, 35 E. Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ 07853. Registration is now open, with a non‑refundable fee due by April 8, 2026. A $25 late fee applies after that date, and registration closes once the session begins.
